What is Tarma Installer Malware and what is it designed to do?

What is Tarma Installer malware, and what are its intended functions? Could you provide insights into how it operates and the potential risks it poses to users and systems?

‘Tarma Installer’ creates stand-alone software installers for Microsoft Windows platforms. Unless you’re a software maker you have zero need for this program so go ahead and uninstall it from your system. The mention of ‘Tarma Installer Malware’ is the result of your antivirus program flagging it as such, but it seems to be a false positive, since reputable vendors like Spybot have stopped identifying this as malware.

(Still, it does beg the question why a program of such kind would be flagged as malware by so many vendors in the first place… it may have turned out not to be malicious but it sure sounds like poor coding by Tarma! There is a certain irony to it as well, I can almost picture the slogan now… use Tarma Installer to create your installers so that your software can be flagged up as malware too!)

If you run Flight Simulator X or another program that has a lot of user created content, Tarma is used by some sites to package up the user mod into an installable package.

Inside the Tarma Installer folder you will find log files that will tell you if you got it for a legitimate reason when adding content.

Rikoooo.com packages their flight sim content this way.
