Which is better ? SafeLink Wireless or Assurance Wireless ?

My mom is looking to get a phone for my 10-year-old sister but wants to avoid a monthly bill. My little sister doesn’t want a “lame” phone; she’s hoping for an Android like mine. However, my mom is concerned about the cost of an Android device. We have also considered Kajeet service for kids, but my sister thinks it’s “too limited.” She has quite specific preferences. I would like to know which service, SafeLink Wireless or Assurance Wireless, is better in terms of cost and the quality of phones offered. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Safelink and Assurance Wireless have very strict income guidelines for eligibility. From what little you have written, I would hazard to guess your family might not be eligible for Safelink or an Assurance Wireless programs. Households must be low income or participate in certain government assistance programs.

Safelink and Assurance Wireless provide basic candy bar style phones to eligible applicants free of charge. To my knowledge neither phone company is giving out free Android phones. If you would like to get an android phone, you will probably have to apply to a different wireless company.

these programs are very limited, honestly if your mom wants to give your sister an android and not pay a bill get a no service unlocked android from ebay … set up a google voice account and use an app like talk a tone or groove ip … to give the android phone free phone service via wifi … granted this has the drawback of only working within a wifi area but it doesn’t have the limitations a safelink or assurance phone has ( the limit the minutes available and give you substandard bare bones service … the data usage on an android would kill safelink/assuarance minutes in just a couple web pages …

Safelink Wireless wants all of its customers to have the ability to check, change or upgrade their plan at any time. To enable this easy access, the Safelink Wireless website can pull up your service plan

Hey man, Honestly its been 2 years since this thread was posted so im sure were all old and gray by now but ima give u a real answer… Aight sooooo As robert so elegantly and unintellingently put it, its a GOOOOVVVEEERNNNMEEEENNNNT PWOGWAM. Which it is, that gives out phones to people who make under like 20,000 a year individually, so go with them. Just because they supply u with a “Candy Bar Style phone” (I Dont See it) doesnt mean someone with a little…. sorry, alot of tech smarts cant reprogram an android phone to your safelink plan. It definetly takes some know how and what not but check out this link…

And yeah free talk and text for a year, then youde have to rehack…. but… im just sayin children dont need phones, they need more caring adults, downfall of american civilization if you ask me. Either that or parents need to grab the belt, “What a free phone isnt good enough, u want something special WHERES MY BELT.” Lets see that little girl backtalk or be unsatisfied with free stuff again lol
