Anyone know what the citroen saxo vtr’s are like?
I'm looking for insights on the Citroën Saxo VTR. Specifically, I'm curious about any common recurring problems this model might have. Additionally, could you provide information on the annual tax costs and any other useful tips or information you may have? Thank you!

One expensive common problem on Saxo’s (and Peugeot 106’s) is wear in the rear radius arm bearings. To check, stand a couple of car lengths behind the Saxo and look at the rear wheels. They should be just about vertical. If one or both is leaning inwards at the top, then the bearings are shot. This normally means a new rear axle is needed, as most garages won’t touch the job, and even if they do manage to strip the axle down, the bearing face on the axle is usually too worn for the axle to be successfully rebuilt. Fitting a good used axle is not too big a job, but good ones are getting hard to find these days.
If you find a car that has a slight oil leak where the cylinder head joins the block at the timing belt end, don’t worry. All the PSA TU engines leak there as standard! Only budget for replacing the head gasket if it is chucking it out.
Apart from these issues, normal buying rules apply. Has it got full service & repair history?. Are there any signs of rust or accident repairs? Does it look, run and drive okay? Has it got a full MOT (and are the emission test results there?). Not too much tech on these, but does everything work?.
Lastly, I would avoid buying one that has been lowered, as that is as good indicator that it’s been thrashed, or at least that suspension woes are around the corner.
Any citroen older than about 6 or 7yrs, you are going to start getting expensive to repair problems.
as for the vtr, reasonably nippy, but harsh on front tyres ( will last 1/3 lifetime of rears)
This Site Might Help You.

“is there any common re accurring problems” – Their biggest problem is that by now it’ll be all but impossible to find one that hasn’t been owned by a succession of chavs who think bigger alloys, bodykits and louder stereos are more important than routine maintenance.
They were good cars in their day but most of them will be run ragged by now. Check everything and assume it’s been owned by a cretin, most of them have.
Boy racer Chavs drive VTR Saxo, VTS Saxo’s are driven by girl chavs (Insurance is cheaper for them) Nuff Said.
Rubbishy even when new, now old, very fragile french cars with oddly aligned seat, steering wheel and pedals
