do small lizards eat dead insects or only live ones?
I recently went camping with my cousin, and we came across two small lizards. We're curious about their dietary habits and would like to know if they eat only live insects, only dead insects, or if they consume both. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

anything will eat anything if hungry enouph.. I found a horse that was eating sticks because his owner couldn’t afford to feed it. Also i have seen accounts of monkeys killing each other for food.
Edit.. lizards are hunting animals so they like live prey my freind owns a snake and she’s the same way… she’ll bite you if she thinks your a mouse, painful but cute if you think about it
let them go there bodies will go into shock sooner or later
live only by the way
if you feed them dead ones they wont even bite it
if there bearded dragons feed them baby mice
do the same if they are iguanas
i own over 100 different types of lizards 2 of each a boy and a girl
i have a bearded dragon and hes quite fussy with what he eats.. like with small crickets he wont bother chasing them, he actually waits for them to come to him
but bigger insects hed probably lunge at and eat them anyway
like everyone else has said it depends what lizard you have…. but they should eat both, but they prefer the fun of the live ones
Yes. but only if they’re STARVING. Also, most lizards prefer the mice to be alive. Also, they must be pinkies (baby mice). Feeding these to smaller lizards is not reccomended. Leopard Gecko size is the absolute limit, as far as i know.
It might depend on what lizard, but the ones where I live (Turks Caicos) eat live ones and dead ones.

They prefer live insects, so that they can imitate their life in their natural environments. They particularly like live crickets and grasshoppers
haha i think that they eat any kind of insect that they can catch.
just kidding.
but no, they eat both. but if you want to spoil your little friend feed him dead, so it will be easier for him to eat, so he doesnt try to slip away and leave your friend hungry:)
Both but with the live one he will get some exercise since he has to try to catch it for himself.
