Frodo was the only one present who had said nothing. For some time he had sat silent beside Bilbo’s empty chair, and ignored all remarks

Frodo was the only one present who had said nothing. For some time, he sat in silence beside Bilbo's empty chair, ignoring all remarks and questions. He had enjoyed the joke, of course, even though he was in the know. He struggled to contain his laughter at the guests' indignant surprise. However, he also felt deeply troubled; he suddenly realized that he loved the old hobbit dearly. Most of the guests continued eating, drinking, and discussing Bilbo Baggins' oddities—both past and present—but the Sackville-Bagginses had already departed in anger. Frodo no longer wished to be part of the party.

  • The Fellowship of the Ring, J.R.R. Tolkien

Which statement best explains how this passage contributes to Tolkien's creation of a vivid fantasy world? • Frodo's conflicting emotions reveal that the world of the story is full of unrealistic contradictions. • Although Frodo is not human, his feelings are understandable and believable, making him seem real. • The detailed descriptions of Frodo's physical appearance help the reader visualize and understand hobbits.

As reserved and thoughtful Let’s use the process of elimination. He is not funny and outgoing + angry and bitter + jealous and rude. Because of one word, he was silent and ignored all remarks and questions. This leads me to believe that he is reserved and thoughtful.
