How many Li atoms are contained in 97.9g of Li?
I would like to verify my answer for a homework question: How many lithium (Li) atoms are contained in 97.9 grams of lithium? Thank you!

1. The first thing you need to figure out is how many MOLS of Li there are in 97.9g of Li.
a. The conversion factor for this is ATOMIC MASS: there are 6.941g of Li for every mol of Li
b. so, to find the number of mols, divide: 97.9g Li/(6.941g Li/mol Li). This gives you 14.1 mol Li
2. Now, you can figure out how many ATOMS there are in 14.1 mol Li.
a. There are 6.022 x 10^23 atoms in a mol
b. to find the number of atoms in 14.1 mol Li, multiply: 6.022 x 10^23 atoms/mol * 14.1 mol
The answer I get is 8.49 * 10^24 Li atoms
