how to get funding for my SIA Badge?
I have passed all the courses and obtained all the certificates, including Door Supervisor, CCTV Operations, and Security Guard. However, when I apply for jobs, companies ask for the SIA badge because that is the required license. Unfortunately, the certificates alone do not hold much value in the job market. I have been unemployed for six months and am currently claiming jobseeker's allowance, but I cannot afford the £250 fee for the badge. Can anyone suggest ways I can secure funding for this? I would greatly appreciate any help, as this situation is quite frustrating. Thank you.

I am answering from the U.S.A., so I do not have personal experience with this.
However, I looked on the U.K. Directgov web pages and found reference to loans (Budgeting Loans) for people on Jobseekers to help pay for “things to help you look for or start work.” Perhaps one of those “things” would be considered the cost to obtain a Security Industry Authority (SIA) license.

Try the security companies, ring round them, the jobcentre will let you use their telephone, you can see if they will pay for your badge, and deduct the cost monthly from your salary,I know, its crazy giving you all that training, and not the licence, good luck hope you find something soon.
