I was invited to a byob party?
I was invited to a BYOB party, and I have a few questions about how these events typically work. I understand that BYOB stands for "bring your own beer," but I'm curious about how much I should bring. Is there a general guideline for the amount? Additionally, if I bring my own beer, am I expected to share it with guests who do not bring their own? I would appreciate a detailed explanation of the etiquette and expectations surrounding BYOB parties. Thank you!

Bring what you plan on drinking plus a little extra, and only share if you want to. It’s also not a bad idea to bring a little something for the host, like a 6-pack, bottle of booze, or an appetizer. But trust me, you do not want to turn into the person that is always giving beer to people that don’t bring their own at parties. It can get pretty expensive.
You take what you plan on drinking yourself. You don’t have to share with anyone, but if you take beer and it’s a large party expect them to get stolen from the fridge. If it’s a smaller get together where everyone knows each other you should be ok. I typically take a bottle of wine to byobs. You don’t have to chill it or mix anything, and you can keep it with you all night long.
As Nicole said, bring a 12 pack and people will appreciate it.
It will also give you a chance to share and giving away beer is a good way to meet people.
The only rule for a byob party is that you bring enough for yourself and whoever is with you, but bringing more is always a good idea and “people will like you”. ?
Unless beer is specified, it usually means bring your own booze rather than beer. I usually just bring a bottle of liquor which is enough to last me the night and I don’t have to share much more than a couple of shots. I find that taking beer usually results in people stealing a few if left unattended so if it is a beer only thing, I would take at least a 12 pack so that you can still enjoy the night if some of your beers are taken. You aren’t obligated to share anything, but most people tend to give a little bit of whatever they bring to people who weren’t able to pick up their own stuff.

How exactly do these work? I know it stands for bring your own beer. But how much am I supposed to bring? Do I have to share mine with people who don’t bring their own? Please explain with much detail.
byob is not just bring your own beer its your bottle. so normally what ever your drinking. so if your drinking a liquor then they should have the mixes.
if your drinking beer i usually bring a 12 pack or unless your really gonna have more then bring a case. most people leave what ever is left over. some times they will take what they brought. normally i leave what ever beer i brought but now if i bring liquor then i take the bottle back unless there is only 1 or2 drinks left then i will leave it.

i usually take a 24 pack if im drinking beer…bud light is AMAZING or a bottle of vodka regular sized because id rather have more than enough than not, if i have any left over thats for another night or another BYOB party…and 19-20 year olds thats not that bad, trust me.
BYOB = Bring Your Own Booze. It doesn’t have to be beer. Bring as much as you think you will drink all night.
You are free to bring however much you are comfortable with. Yes, you normally share with everywhere regardless of whether they brought their own. Everyone brings some beer and then everyone has a variety of beers to choose from. I would suggest taking a 12-pk, as 6 is often too little but it is not necessary to take as much as a 24-pk. I would suggest Heinekin.
