The binomial factors of the quadratic trinomial may take the forms of (y + a) and (y + b). The sum of a and b is equal to the numerical coefficient of the second term and their product should be equal to the constant. If a is equal to -2, b is equal to -8. Thus, the second factor is (y - 8).

Step-by-step explanation:a^2 +7a + 10 = a(a+2) +5(a+2) = (a+5)(a+2)y^2 -10y +16=y(y-2) -8(y-2) =(y-8)(y-2)
The other factor is (y-8). Step-by-step explanation:Given : The binomial (y-2) is a factor of To find : What is the other factor?Solution : We have given the quadratic equation One of the factor is (y-2).To find other factor we factorize the given quadratic equation,Applying middle term split,The other factor is (y-8).

According to the task you give: The binomial (y − 2) is a factor of y2 − 10y + 16. The other factor is C- (y-8) reffering to the major rules identifying the factors of binimials. By knowing factors you can make the factored form then by multiplying them.

Incase it helps to have a slightly different approach, the way we learnt it is:y2 - 10y + 16 = 0When these are factorised, the brackets you have will need to expand to equal the above.You need to find 2 numbers that multiply together to make the end number, c, and those 2 numbers must also add together to made the middle number, b.So for this case, those two numbers would be -2 and -8. Then these go into the brackets, (y - 2) (y - 8) = 0This can then be proven to be correct via expansion, y x y = y2y x -8 = -8y-2 x y = -2y-2 x -8 = 16(y2) + (-8y) + (-2y) + (16) = 0y2 - 8y - 2y + 16 = 0y2 - 10y + 16 = 0Hope this helps a little?

Y^2 - 10y + 16the last sign in ur problem...the one before the 16..it is a +this means that both ur factors will have the same signthe first sign...the one before the 10y is a -this means that both ur factors will have a negative signnow, we have to find 2 numbers, then when added = -10 and when multiplied = 16-8 + (-2) = -10-8 * -2 = 16so ur numbers are -8 and -2y^2 - 10y + 16(y - 2)(y - 8) <===
