What are the systematic names of these compounds?
Could you provide the systematic names for the following compounds? Additionally, could you explain the process so I can learn to determine them on my own for future questions like this?
a. CuI (s)
b. Fe₂O₃ (s)
c. CoF₂ (s)
d. FeO (s)

a) solid copper
b) Iron (III) oxide In order to balance the charges so that the molecule has a 0 charge the iron must have been a Fe+3 ion. Since O is a -2 ion O-2, then in order to balance the charges you need to have 3 O's and 2 Fe's because 2 c + 3 = + 6 and 3 x -2 = -6 and + 6 - 6 = 0
c) Cobalt fluoride That's it nothing else
d) Iron (II) oxide. O is -2 as explained above, so Fe must be +2 this time.

these are actually esters, because of the extra oxygen. a)ethyl acetate you name the side ƒᴀʀтher from the carbonyl (C=O) first, then the side with the carbonyl. here, the side ƒᴀʀтher from the carbonyl has two carbons, so it is an ethyl. then the side with the carbonyl has two carbons, so you might call it an ethanoate, but acetate is the more common term, since it resembles acetic acid. b)methyl propanoate here, the side ƒᴀʀтher from the carbonyl has one carbon, so it is a methyl. the side with the carbonyl has 3 carbons, so you can call it a propanoate.
