What does “moonshine” (the alcohol drink) taste like?

To me it tastes like rubbing alcohol.

I come from a long line of moonshiners and runners. I had my first tast of ‘shine when I was four (accident) and to this day I still have no nose hair! When I got older, I was only allowed to drink the "good stuff", triple filtered. I have no taste for alcohol (I don’t even like beer) but this stuff was way better than any vodka or rum I’ve had since. Most ‘shiners aren’t after taste, though, so don’t get your hopes up. Most shine does taste like rubbing alcohol.

It is not legal to make distilled spirits without a license in most states.

A really bad moonshine can be compare to taste of REALLY cheap vodka mixed with some pure alcohol to increase proof.

However moonshine can be improved dramatically by distilling it more then once, and filtering(try Brita water filter for instance). If done properly it is possible to achieve almost flavorless smooth experience in drinking moonshine.

Liquid fire, kerosene, rubbing alcohol – C’mon! You must not drink straight liquor very often. It tastes like slightly flavored vodka. Wild Turkey 101 is just moonshine that has been filtered two or three times. Pour a glass of moonshine and add one or two ice cubes and it’s a good sipping drink.

It seems like a lot of ppl ɡɑɡ and react with digust when they try it for the first time. I'm not even sure if it legal to make.

I bought a couple of jars of that “Shine on Georgia Moon We couldn’t drink it tasted exactly like Petrol.even a Virginian who tried it said “Put it in your car” But I took one to England They thought it was great.. . I also took a bottle of Bourbon But that was taken off me in Frankfort airport on my way to Copenhagen The Moonshine (legal) traveled through Canadian, German Danish & English customs with no problems

It’s not legal. Try Ron Rico 151 rum and try and imagine double the taste. It kind of tastes like rubbing alcohol smells.

Most people dont know what REAL shine taste like…It does have a slight distinct sweet aroma ( but its not sweet ), goes down easy with a hot/warming feeling in your throat and chest in the end….What most of you on here have calling moonshine is really home made vodka and/or home made pure grain…
