What does "Roquefort le Pont" mean? This phrase originates from the INXS song "God's Top Ten." Can anyone provide insights into its meaning or significance within the song's context?

the literal translation is ‘Roquefort the bridge’
however inxs may have been using this in reference to the legend surrounding the discovery of the cheese Roquefort. Legend has it that the cheese was discovered when a young shepherd, eating his lunch of curds, saw a beautiful girl in the distance. Abandoning his meal in a nearby cave, he ran to meet her. When he failed to catch her, he returned to his now moldy lunch and ate it out of pure hunger.
Roquefort, or similar style cheese, is mentioned in literature as far back as 79 AD, when Pliny the Elder remarked upon its rich flavor. Cheese making colanders have been discovered amongst the region’s prehistoric relics.
In fact, it s Roquefort les Pins. A place in south of France where Michael Hutchence had a house. But J. D. Fortune s pronunciation is not very good, “les Pins” becomes “le pont” in his mouth (in real french, “le pont” is not pronounced the way he does), and then lyrics website transcripted that in a bad way 🙂
