Generally hiring managers want to see work experience similar to what they are doing, to give them confidence you will quickly be able to get up to speed. Some hiring managers recognize you will need to learn everything on the job and are looking primarily a good attitude and strong work ethic. Still others just want you to be pleasant so you work well as part of a team. There are all kinds of managers and it’s your job to hit as many hot buttons as you can, to make it clear you would be a good choice.
