What is a “reversed word,” a “reversed thought,” a “reversed sentence construction” and a “classical allusion”

Could someone please explain the terms “reversed word,” “reversed thought,” “reversed sentence construction,” and “classical allusion”? If possible, could you also provide examples for each? I’m quite confused and would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!

Reversed word examples(it’s better if i just give you examples, it’s better to understand)

1.upfill/fillup

2.nightall/allnight

3.rightall/allright

(these are words that like for example : upfill– you’d usually say fillup right? or alright instead of rightall? or allnight instead of nightall? correct?)

all in acts 1-3 of Romeo and Juliet

Reversed Thought: (From Romeo and Juliet)Focus on “The earth that’s nature’s mother is her tomb;/ What is her burying grave, that is her womb” (lines 9-10). Ask the students to identify what’s unusual about these ideas. (The thoughts are reversed. What gives birth serves as a grave; what serves as a grave gives birth.) Point out that these lines contain reversed thoughts.

Reversed Sentence Construction:(also from Romeo and Juliet)

Focus on “And from her womb children of divers kind / We sucking on her natural bosom find” (lines 11-12). Ask the students to identify what is unusual about the wording of the sentence (other from the fact that it sounds like a foreign language). The wording is an example of reversed sentence construction. In their groups, ask students to unscramble the sentence. For example, students might say that this is the ‘normal’ word order: “And we find children of divers kind from her womb sucking on her natural bosom”.

Classical Allusion:

check out this link above. it’ll give some examples. i myself am not sure what the actual definition of classical allusion is. But from reading from the link I think that it means a reference to a fairytale like creature or place like Aphrodite or Ethiopia.

I really hope you’re reading Romeo and Juliet cuz these will really help you 😀 good luck and God bless 😀
