HELP! how do you translate “may I put you on hold…..”English to Spanish?
How can I translate the phrase “May I put you on hold while I check on that?” from English to Spanish?

That’s an interesting one… from my experience living and traveling all over Latin America and Spain, I have never, ever observed (or experienced myself) that situation, in the form of a question. In other words, when one of the persons on the phone needs to place the other one on hold, for whatever reason, they don’t ask if they can do it. Instead, they just inform the other person that they ARE(!) placing them on hold, usually telling them something like:
“permítame un momento” = “allow me a moment”,
or
“espérese un momento” = “wait a moment”,
or
“regreso en un momento” = “I’ll be back in a moment”,
or
“permítame” = “allow me”
or something of the like. The next thing, you hear a “click”, and realize that you have been placed on hold. So, I don’t know of any idiomatic expression equivalent to what you are asking. Sorry!
Hope it helps!

how do you translate “may I put you on hold while I check on that?” from English to Spanish?
“Puedo ponerle/la en espera mientras compruebo (or verifico) eso?” (formal)
Here’s different ways of saying it:
“Lo puedo poner en espera un momentito, mientras le averiguo eso?” (Translates roughly to: “May I put you on hold for a moment, while I find that out for you?”)
“Puede esperar un momentito, en lo que le averiguo eso?” (Can you please hold/wait for a moment, while I find that out for you?)
“Un momento, por favor, en lo que le averiguo eso.” (One minute, please, while I find that out for you.)
Hope this helps! ?
no creo que el verbo existe, si no me equivoco.
i do not beleive the verb exists, if i am not mistaken, but you can say:
espere un momento; no cuelgue por favor.
The literal translation is: ¿te puedo poner en espera?
¿Te puedo dejar en espera?
